On Tuesday night I voted for the motion for ‘real recall’ of MPs. Having listened to the debate and having sat on the Standards and Privileges Select Committee for over three years I realised that the time was right for registered voters to be able to take responsibility and have their voices heard by signing a petition at the Town Hall if they feel that their MP had acted so egregiously that recall ought to happen.
I am urging the secondary schools of South Derbyshire to register for a free CPR training kit for staff and pupils to use from the British Heart Foundation.
I was honoured to be asked to help launch the Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal on Saturday morning along with Chairman of SDDC Cllr Pat Murray at Swadlincote Sainsburys.
I am thrilled with this morning’s news of a further fall in unemployment in South Derbyshire. The figures show that 85 more residents of South Derbyshire are now in employment since August.
Recently on Radio Derby I was explaining that the £157 million of cuts constantly referred to by the controlling Labour Group on the County Council is, in fact, £157 million of savings the council must make over the next 4 years.
On Saturday I was delighted to attend the opening of Dollies hair salon in Willington. It was a real privilege to see the dream of owner Sarah Webster come true. The business is a family affair with Sarah's sister and aunt helping out too.
