Recently on Radio Derby I was explaining that the £157 million of cuts constantly referred to by the controlling Labour Group on the County Council is, in fact, £157 million of savings the council must make over the next 4 years.
On Saturday I was delighted to attend the opening of Dollies hair salon in Willington. It was a real privilege to see the dream of owner Sarah Webster come true. The business is a family affair with Sarah's sister and aunt helping out too.
The Lloyds Banking Group have launched their fourth year of their Money for Life Challenge. This is a national competition which aims to help young people learn about and improve their money management skills.
There has been an on going debate about the plausibility of mitochondrial replacement techniques. Following a visit from a constituent who suffers from mitochondrial disease I looked into the debate further and I agree with her that we should be doing all we can to prevent this terrible disease.
