Loneliness is a problem we must work to tackle. It has been an issue before the coronavirus hit and required people to self-isolate, which increasing the problem. It is something that effects people both physically and mentally, we as a government must play our part in helping to resolve this issue.
There has been a £5 million boost for organisations working to tackle loneliness and build social connections. The government has also launched a major campaign about loneliness during this pandemic this includes the Let’s Talk Loneliness public campaign encouraging people to talk openly about loneliness and help with guidance and support for yourself and others. This campaign has been joined by a large network of charities, 21 organisations have signed up so far, including the British Red Cross, Sainsbury’s, the National Grid and the UK Civil Service.
Here in South Derbyshire it is a difficult time for many at the moment but there is support out there and the government will do it’s bit to support people.
