South Derbyshire will have an Election night

Parliament Portcullis

Tonight at the District Council the Chief Executive Mr McArdle, who is the Electoral Returning Officer, announced he had made his decision about when the votes for the General Election would be counted.

He announced the Count would start on the Thursday night.

This is very good news for democracy as waiting until Friday afternoon to hear the result would have left the Country in limbo, without knowing who was going to run the Country.

Thank goodness that is one decison out the way. Now we just have to wait for Gordon Brown to call the General Election.  I can't wait!
