LOWEST COUNCIL TAX INCREASE ON RECORD

Council Tax set at lowest increase rate ever in South Derbyshire

As everyone feels the financial pinch as a result of Gordon Brown's recession, Conservative controlled South Derbyshire District Council has delivered the lowest Council tax increase on record. At just 1.5% this is below inflation and delivers on the manifesto pledge of keeping Council tax low. Meanwhile at the budget setting meeting of Derbyshire County Council the controlling Conservative group proposed a similar 1.5% increase. This maintains the downward trend on Council Tax increases delivered by the Conservatives over the last few years since the days of Labour control where increases were as much as 13% in a single year !
