My visit to see South Derbyshire's Air Ambulance

Heather Wheeler MP with Councillor Micheal Stanton and Heather Stanton

On the 15th July I met with Councillor Michael Stanton and consort Mrs Heather Stanton at East Midlands Airport to see South Derbyshire’s Air Ambulance in action. The Air Ambulance is 100% charity run and is shared between Derbyshire, Leicester and Rutland.

The Derbyshire, Leicester and Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA) is a fantastic service which brings senior doctors and consultants to the scene of incidents as quickly as possible, and then takes patients to specialist hospitals to aid quick treatments for specific injuries. The Air Ambulance also provides life saving treatment and medication on site and en-route to hospital. This is an invaluable service in cases where land ambulances are unable to access the scene or where transfer by land ambulance would be too slow or risk further injury to the patient. Its primary response area is 2,100 square miles of Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland and serves in excess of 1.4 million people.

If you would like more information on how you can support our local Air Ambulance simply call 08454 130999, or visit the DLAA website on  http://www.dlraa.co.uk/.
